I am delighted to be showing some of my work as part of the Cairngorms Connect Wader Welcome event at the Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie.
Remembrance Day for Lost Species
Lost Species Day is held annually on November 30th. I marked it first with a community walk, searching the Edinburgh coastline for curlew, eider and oyster catchers, and then with this drawing.
Pen and ink on paper. 30x30cm. 2022. £55.
30x30 Biodiversity
Referring to the pledge made at the UN Biodiversity Conference to protect and conserve a minimum of 30% of land and sea for biodiversity, by 2030.
This work features a heron, a salmon and Gingko biloba, all species which are endangered in the wild somewhere in the world.
Pen and ink on paper. 30x30cm. 2023. £55.
The overall shape and colour schemes of these works refers to the concept of YinYang, a sign of nature’s movement towards balance in Taoist philosophy. Birds, fish and plants are featured alongside humans whose actions are bringing about a critical imbalance.
