Kalela Williams is a writer, an educator, and a historian. She is the founder of Black History Maven, hosting programs that explore diverse pasts and spark curiosity, and the Director of Writing of Mighty Writers, a Philadelphia-based organization that teaches young people to write. Her poetry and prose have been featured in a BBC 4 Radio program, published in numerous small literary magazines, and commissioned by various Philadelphia arts and cultural institutions. Her essay, "The Three Century Walk," appears in WAYS OF WALKING (2022, New Door Books). Kalela's YA novel, THE TANGLEROOT PAPERS, is slated for publication in 2024 by Feiwel & Friends.
