Benjamin Patterson
Benjamin "Ben" Patterson (May 29, 1934 - June 25, 2016) was an American musician, composer, performance and visual artist, and one of the founding members of the Fluxus Movement.
His artistic style revolved around exploring sound and live action, both conceptually and materially, using various mediums. Though he is mainly recognized for his performance work, Patterson also incorporated paper, assemblage, video, installation and sculpture.
Throughout his career, he followed the Fluxus ethos of flow, antiauthoritarian and antiestablishment approaches to his art.
Patterson was classically trained on the double bass and later combined his passion for music with contemporary art.
