I am an adventurer and multi-award-winning travel writer (most recently Sustainable Travel Article of the Year: Travel Media Awards 2023), photographer, presenter and broadcaster (specialising in adventure, sustainable travel, walking, family adventure and wildlife conservation). I have presented segments on TV including BBC Countryfile, BBC Breakfast, C5 Saturday Live, ITV’s Britain’s Best Walks and BBC Breakfast. I am also Sleep Storyteller-in-Residence at Calm where my stories have been listened to over 30 million times and been narrated by Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley, Cillian Murphy, Jerome Flynn, Bindi Irwin and Danai Gurira to name a few.

I am the author of 11 books with my most recent one – Wayfarer: Love, Loss and Life on Britain’s Ancient Paths – being shortlisted as Edward Stanford Travel Book of the Year 2025 and being named as an FT best summer read. I am co-founder of the #WeTwo Foundation, a charity that empowers underprivileged young people through carbon negative expeditions. I reside in Oxfordshire, but am originally from North Wales.

slow marathon

A marathon length walk in Huntly/Aberdeenshire and other places, where people can walk as slow as they like. Celebrating the human pace, it is both an endurance event as well as a poetic act that brings together friendship, physical activity and an appreciation of our varied landscapes.
