Fostering ideas and pushing artistic boundaries

by Agustina Rastelli Gatti

Working alongside Anabella as Assistant Choreographer for her upcoming piece “Listen to Your Mother” has been an inspiring journey. Anabella’s approach blends creativity with precision, fostering an environment where ideas flourish and artistic boundaries are pushed. Her keen eye for detail coupled with a genuine appreciation for collaboration makes every rehearsal a dynamic and enriching experience. Working with her, I’ve learned the value of flexibility and adaptability in the creative process, as she effortlessly navigates through challenges and adjustments with grace and insight.

Anabella’s leadership style is both empowering and nurturing, providing guidance while also encouraging autonomy and creativity among her team. Her passion for dance and storytelling is infectious, fueling a collective drive towards excellence and innovation. Working with Anabella has not only expanded my technical skills but has also deepened my understanding of the profound impact art can have on both individuals and communities. As we continue to bring “Listen to Your Mother” to life, I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a visionary artist and mentor.

Working on this piece has been deeply impactful for me as a woman. Through this collaboration, I’ve had the opportunity to explore and express my own experiences of motherhood and femininity.

By delving into these themes, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of myself and the collective experiences of women. This experience has been transformative, affirming the importance of female voices in the arts and inspiring me to continue advocating for the representation and empowerment of women in all aspects of life.

“Listen to Your Mother” will be premiered at La Mama Moves Dance Festival in NYC,  from May 16th-19th, 2024. Save the dates and get your tickets!

attentive walking

A method of walking and attending to experienced environment that is free, open and ‘without agenda’. Not to be confused with the idleness of flanerie or the intentions of attitudinal walking.
