2023 Urban Tree festival Long list of the “Secrets of the Trees” themed writing competition.

Run between December 2022 and March 2023, the Urban Tree festival writing competition invited submissions of poetry and prose on the theme of “Secrets of the Trees” – each submission was to be of 250 words or under. Listed under this category, are those submissions chosen by our volunteer judges as of such quality as to be included in a long list. The shortlisted pieces are published in a limited illustrated chapbook anthology that you can buy from the Festival shop.

A drawing made on an outside environment, trafitti combines the word “graffiti”, to inscribe a surface, “trace” (which itself combines the meanings track, to make ones way, and to draw), and “traffic”, the passage of people or vehicles in transit, or the conveyance of messages or data through a communications system.
