This Thursday! Join us with Tim Jeffrey’s for the launch of issue 1 of Art Walk Journal.
It’s the latest blossoming of SALT, an ongoing series of art research residencies and commissions from Art Walk Projects.
We’ll be at the glorious @mote102leith from 6pm-8pm on Thursday 23rd March so come along!
Tom has contributed an introductory essay to the publication and also helped to commission four writers to respond to each of the four SALT artists. Their texts are a beautiful, rich, dizzying mix of poetry, criticism, speculation and revelation. The writers are:
~ Sean Wai Keung on Mahala Le May
~ Rowan Lear on Joanne Matthews
~ Jan Uprichard on Tonya McMullan
~ Harvey Dimond on Natasha Thembiso Ruwona
The publication also details two other concurrent strands of artistic research and making:
~ PORT, with @asikainen.henna @louise_barrington @rosyjnaylor @elspeth_billie_penfold & @stephanie_whitelaw
~ DELUGE, with @dana_olarescu @linde.ex & @oscarvanheek
Oh and there is also an exhibition too, featuring work by the four brilliant SALT artists, which continues until 30 March.
And also drinks.

Walking with Ghosts
We were delighted to connect with Thread and Word and work with Elspeth Penfold throughout the process. Through the walkshops, the expression and exploration of war became foregrounded . The walkshops also took us beyond the immediate vicinity of Folkestone and the last hundred years. Through engaging with poetry and art from global cultures, we reflected on the impact and experience of war across time, space and culture. This global perspective connected what was a site-specific artwork to a global story.
