Jeremy Evans

During his time at the BBC, Jeremy Evans has worked across national and local radio. Currently an editor at BBC Radio 3 he looks after several of the network’s main strands. He’s also spent time as Head of Presentation for Radios 3, 4 and 4 Extra leading teams helping to keep those stations on air. And as well as working for BBC Local Radio in Nottingham, Northampton and Cambridgeshire he’s passionate about making radio programmes. As a producer for Radio 3 he’s made thousands of programmes and takes any opportunity to take listeners into the outdoors and use music to bring radio landscapes to life. He spends much of his time sailing or hiking when not making radio programmes.

snudge

The first sense of snudging refers to being cheap, stingy, miserly, and Scrooge-like. Such penny-pinching behavior isn’t associated with great posture, and perhaps that’s why the word later referred to walking with a bit of a stoop. An English-French dictionary from 1677 captures the essence of snudgery: “To Snudge along, or go like an old Snudge, or like one whose Head is full of business.” Snudging is a little like trudging.
