F for Farnham – Launch Event

F for Farnham

University for the Creative Arts and Farnham Town Council invite you to the launch event for F for Farnham, a new audio story walk taking you on a ghostly journey around Surrey’s most haunted town.

About this event

Meet producers Simon Aeppli and Roz Mortimer (Film Department, UCA) as they share with you the first opportunity to experience this ghostly trail around Farnham.

Writer and Director Sophie Austin will introduce you to the stories, characters and hauntings which have inspired this journey and then head out on to the streets and experience this ghost walk on Halloween weekend.

Do not walk alone.

During this self-guided audio walk you will hear ten stories, voiced by Farnham locals and inspired by hauntings that have been experienced in this town over hundreds of years.

You will be invited to consider the layers of history, physical experience and mortal imaginings that make up this town and you’ll be invited to feel the resonance of some Farnham folk who never left.

Do not walk alone.

Bring your charged smartphone, headphones and dress for the unexpected…

flakkari

“Icelandic culture is infused with stories of travel. When names were needed for modern machines, the technology that enables our imaginations to travel, words were chosen that centred on the quality of roaming. Thus the neologism for laptop is fartölva, formed from the verb far, meaning to migrate, and tölva – migrating computer’; its companion, the external hard drive, is a flakkari. The latter word can also mean ‘wanderer’ or ‘vagrant’. In the end it’s the wanderers we rely on.” From Nancy Campbell’s “The Library of Ice”.
