And While London Burns is a downloadable opera-for-one guiding listeners through London’s financial district, exploring climate change. With music and choral work by Isa Suarez and narration by Douglas Hodge, it blends thriller, opera, and immersive soundscape.

And While London Burns is an acclaimed downloadable opera-for-one, created in 2006 by James Marriott and Jay Jordan and produced by PlatformLondon. Blending fact and fiction, it guides listeners on a gripping audio-walk through London’s financial district, exploring the City’s role in climate change. Isa Suarez composed the music, directed the choral works, and crafted the immersive audio production, creating a haunting and dynamic soundscape.

The performance features soprano Deborah Stoddard, Isa Suarez, and The London Gregorian Choir, with narration by BAFTA-winning actor Douglas Hodge. The libretto, written by Marriott and Jordan, combines storytelling and commentary on climate and finance. Though some streets and buildings have changed, the walk remains fully immersive. Commissioned by Platform, And While London Burns is a compelling collision of thriller, opera, and guided urban experience.
