Holon – Become Sound

Free (with In-App Purchases for optional wearables). Holon.ist editor: USD 13.99
Walking piece

Holon generates synth music from your body movements and the world around you. Your behaviour decides what you hear. Sensors on the phone or optional wearables, such as Apple Watch or AirPods Pro, lets users explore an adaptive soundtrack that accompanies and sometimes drives their everyday activities. Real-world signals are mapped to musical parameters, including speed, step rate, heart rate (if available), time of day, solar/lunar position, weather and device motion. Try Holon in a moving vehicle or an elevator!

An editor for advanced users, Holon.ist, lets users create their own adaptive music experiences or installations. Holon can also send signals to our compatible plugins for Ableton Live, Reaktor, VCV and miRack in a limited demo mode. Ableton Link needs to be activated in the settings and the devices need to be on the same wifi network. They connect automatically.

  1. Holon is now entirely free, including support for Apple Watch, which enables heart rate synchronised music. The geospatial features of Holon change the music depending on land use, e.g. transforming into ambient in parks, upbeat retail zones or mechanical and distorted industrial areas. Points Of Interest become proximity-activated triggers and modulators, they include millions of objects and places, ranging from street furniture and amenities to bus stops and bridges and other landmarks. Holon is compatible with miRack patches and features 10 new interactive scores that showcase these features in different ways.
