An early work featuring a meditative slow walk and improvisation along an extremely muddy stream bed at midnight near the village of Lambley, Nottinghamshire, UK. (2002)
In the thick mud accumulated in the bed of this small stream, about 1 -2 metres wide, by the action of cattle coming to the stream to drink water, every footstep is a unique sonic adventure and progress is very slow and there are periods of meditative silence to absorb the extremely quiet atmosphere. This section of the stream, about 25 metres in length, is partitioned by metal bars across between the banks marking the ends of the access section for the cattle, to stop the cattle wandering up and down the stream. These metal bars were used for some freeform sound improvisation. Please note – there are occasional accidental bodily sounds. Recorded in binaural stereo for a full surround sound experience on headphones.
Safety: do not walk in muddy areas like rivers, river estuaries and coastlines or any location where the depth and nature of the mud is unknown.
