Help us expand our archive

14 Jul, 2024

My wife's on the board of the Gabo Foundation, with 'Gabo' being the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. One of the many things the foundation is responsible for, is the yearly Festival Gabo, which includes handing out what probably is the most respected journalism award of the Spanish, and Portuguese, speaking world.

The festival is great, and very much worth your time. But, when I can't make it to attend myself, one thing I always appreciate of her being part of Festival Gabo, is when she comes back with excellent Colombian coffee. However, this year, she also came back with a strong flu, which, a week after her return, she handed to me. A gift I appreciate significantly less.

We still had a COVID test lying around, which expired two years ago. The test came back negative, but I'm not convinced it's correct.
I'm now suffering from self pity. I suppose that life is suffering. :/

Anyway. We're about to embark on an extensive exercise of archiving older walking pieces, including them in our public archive of just over 800 works, where we expect to expand the archive with several hundred existing pieces; Older work that's documented all over the internet, but which we want to bring into a single, canonical archive of walking art.
And, we're looking for help on this. We already have a few amazing individuals waiting in the wings for this, and many hands make light work. Read up on what we're looking for, and if you're interested, give us a shout.

Keep walking! Though I'm heading back to bed.

fat man’s folly

A narrow gap in a drystone wall or rock face ie one a fat man would be foolish to try to get through. A number exist in the Lake District bearing that specific name but it is also a general term in Cumbria for any narrow gap.
