Carte bavarde des Cités-Jardins / Chatty map from the “Garden city” (Brussels)

Walking piece details

Language French

The garden city is a concept theorized by the British urban planner Ebenezer Howard in 1898, in his book To-morrow: A peaceful path to real reform. It is a way of thinking about the city as opposed to the polluted industrial city.
In the south-east of Brussels, two garden cities will soon celebrate their 100th anniversary. Some inhabitants have interviewed their neighbors about their intimate experience of their neighbourhood. All these testimonies (in french) are placed on a map that can be discovered on the Internet or, in a geolocalized way, by walking in these streets and alleys.

A project initiated by Anne Versailles (sound artist) with the Maison de quartier des Cités-Jardins.
