synchronise is a guided sound walk and online gathering, connecting us to place through synchronised walking and guided creative response to local landscape. Exploring ideas of pilgrimage through interactive, sense-based activity, we engage with inner and outer themes of nature.

Virtually together, we will follow a guided sound walk through our respective places, each partaking in a pilgrimage and a process of walking – listening – connecting. Journeying singularly through distant spaces held within the same timeframe, the gathering will move through space together, united through movement….a collective pilgrimage. We will then gather together online to share our locative responses, weaving our stories and walking experiences together. The gathering will offer a safe, holding space for inner and outer exploration, drawing and reflection.

At a time when we occupy smaller areas, with access to less and restrictions in place, we seek an opportunity to engage with our surroundings in a “micro” way. By collectively journeying through locative space we can experience the intimacy of our surroundings together, opening up new dialogues and ways of interacting with our everyday environments.

a guided sound walk which lasts for 20 minutes for pilgrims to walk within their locality ( looking, sensing, connecting) and then we return for an hour over zoom, to discuss, draw and weave our walking stories together

Saturday 26 September 7- 9 pm BST – registration from end of first week of September via https://linktr.ee/virtualcarelab

Walking in the Anthropocene – Planetary Walking

2021-07-12 18:00

Online

Walking arts today became a response to the deep environmental global crisis we are facing today. Walking is one of the keys to contextualize and deepen our understanding and relation with the planet place we live on. It is more and more clear that the future will be ecological or there will not be a future for our species. Walking our planet is the opportunity to explore this question.
